Case Studies

We don’t seek publicity for our work and we value our clients’ privacy. The following are brief overviews of projects we have undertaken in a number of different areas.

Building Corporate Brand Awareness

HSBC is one of the biggest brands in the world. Operating in Ireland for over 30 years, a decision was recently taken to lift its brand awareness and corporate profile. Keating & Associates were retained to assist in this objective. We have worked closely with HSBC since January 2008 to increase its exposure to the Irish business media with a full programme of corporate pr activity including the successful launch of its Private Banking service and the move to its new corporate headquarters in Dublin’s recently developed south docklands.

New Industry Establishment

Wyeth’s Grange Castle Campus, now owned by Pfizer, is one of the largest BioPharma facilities in the world. Keating & Associates was retained by Wyeth to develop the communications programme to support the development of the facility and to support its recruitment programme. Keating & Associates devised and implemented a public information programme to communicate the facts about the planned development to ensure that the project went ahead without delay and to facilitate production start-up on schedule. Keating & Associates also worked with Wyeth on the official opening of the facility to ensure a seamless transition to full production and to show the capability of the facility to a national audience.

Community Consultation

Shannon LNG is the Irish subsidiary of International Energy Corporation Hess. The company engaged Keating & Associates to support its proposal to build a €500m Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility and associated gas pipeline on the Shannon Estuary in North Kerry. The project was the first private development project to be processed under the Strategic Infrastructure Act. Consequently there was a very strict requirement for community consultation. A communications programme was designed in light of this fact and both the project and pipeline were granted planning permission in 2009.

Public Information

The European Commission is at the forefront of public information communications. Keating & Associates has assisted various Directorate Generals in rolling out their communications in Ireland including promoting the ‘European Year of Intercultural Dialogue’, the ‘European Year of Equal Opportunities’, the five-year information campaign ‘For Diversity Against Discrimination’ and the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work ‘Risk Assessment’ and ‘Safe Maintenance’ campaigns.

Issues Management

We have numerous recent issues management case studies across a range of sectors. For obvious reasons we can’t share them here, this is just one example of our work in this area.

Irish Sugar was an integral part of rural Ireland for 80 years. Keating & Associates worked with the company from 1997 to 2006 to help the Company communicate its position to its stakeholders in the continuously changing environment in which it operated, notably in respect of the EU Commission reform of the EU managed sugar regime. This ultimately involved communications strategies surrounding the closure of the Carlow manufacturing facility and the subsequent ending of sugar manufacturing in Ireland with the closure of the Company’s facility in Mallow.
